Cherokee Legend of Two Wolves
One evening, an elderly Cherokee man told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside of people.
He said, “My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all. One wolf is evil. It is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, and self-pity. The other wolf is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, generosity, and truth. These two wolves are always battling inside of us.”
The grandson thought about this for a moment and then asked, “But grandfather, which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee replied, “The one that you feed.”
